About the Episode:

On this episode of the Good Girls Get Rich podcast, I dive into the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI), especially OpenAI’s ChatGPT, to revolutionize how we approach LinkedIn. Let’s explore how you can make AI your ally for an empowered networking experience on LinkedIn:

  1. AI, Your New Research Buddy: We all know that research can be a daunting task, especially when you’re trying to find potential clients, joint venture partners, and relevant media folks. AI is here to change that. With ChatGPT, you can scour through the vast digital landscape to discover patterns and make connections that matter.
  2. Personalize with Precision: Ever wondered how to craft the perfect, personalized LinkedIn connection request? Look no further than AI. Feed ChatGPT with a LinkedIn profile and let it work its magic by crafting a tailored, engaging message.
  3. Penning LinkedIn Recommendations: Here’s where I really want you to lean in – AI can help you write LinkedIn recommendations! By plugging in a LinkedIn profile into the system, ChatGPT can construct a comprehensive recommendation. Say goodbye to the ‘blank page syndrome’.

Want to dive deeper into these strategies or curious if these approaches are right for you? Book a call with me through my website at karenyankovich.com/call. We’ll explore together!

While the rise of AI is exciting, remember, it’s here to augment our LinkedIn strategies, not replace them. I encourage you to give this approach a spin – it’s an incredible time-saver, but it doesn’t mean you have to lose your authentic touch or personal voice. Keep being you, and let AI do the rest!

Karen Yankovich 0:23
Hello there. I’m your host, Karen Yankovich. And if you listened to Episode 218 of this show, then you might be surprised to hear me talking about using AI and LinkedIn together. You know, I’m continually talking about authenticity and relationship building on LinkedIn, I did an entire show on why we have to be careful about AI, we can’t let it get in the way of showing up authentically and being real, and building actual true relationships. Right. But you know, me, I’m always on the hunt for new tools, technology strategies that help help all of us take our professional journeys to the next level. Right, so So this topic definitely checks all those boxes for me, because we’re gonna dive into the Wizarding World of artificial intelligence. And I’m specifically referring to Chad GPT, which is the one I use, I’ve tried GPT four, because it’s cheap. And if I’m going to do this, I want like, give me the best you got right, especially if it’s cheap, right. So I’m going to talk a little bit about how I leverage this tool to enhance my LinkedIn strategies and how I’m teaching this to my students and staying in our authentic selves. So you might be thinking, like, if you like, Karen, October 2022, Karen, would be really surprised that June 2023 characters talking about this, because I was just like, Okay, that’s it, I’ve hit my limit of things I want to learn about like, I don’t care about AI, I’m not going to learn about AI done, I’m done. I’m done. So if you’re feeling that way, or maybe you’re just feeling it’s too techie, for you understand, I get there, I have been there. I thought that at first, right. But honestly, it’s simply that it sounds essentially Chachi Beatty, which is what I’m using is just an advanced AI tool that’s trained to understand and generate human like text. So simple as that, right? It’s like a virtual assistant. And frankly, sometimes, if you’ve had a virtual assistant, or if you train new virtual assistants, you’re gonna have all it takes to get your voice, right. This isn’t all that different than that, right? We’re not really going to be talking a lot about content today. This is actually a two part series. This is part one of a two part series. But you know, I the kicker here is why the you’re gonna love this is because I want you to think about like, like, as you’re building your business, and you’re looking at your budget, right, you’ve got the capability to enhance your LinkedIn strategy create, like engaging content, and posts and draft like, I’m going to talk a little bit in this thing. And what we’re going to learn how to draft in this one next week, or this one, we’re really talking more about relationship building. Next, we’re going to talk about more about more about our content. But doing all of this with a little help from a free or very minimum cost AI tool, right. So that’s what we’re here to explore today. So again, it’s a two parter. In this episode, we’re taking a deep dive into understanding how this works and how to integrate it into your strategy building out your network. And hopefully, by the end of this episode, you’ll see AI in like a whole new light, and you get some new tips. We’re also gonna talk about some best practices and potential pitfalls while using this, right, because I want to use this responsibly and effectively, I look at chat GPT, as first draft, a first draft tool. So you know, like you’re sitting at the screen, and you just don’t know what to write, like, throw it in chat, GPT pops something out, and you’re like, Oh, good, we’re gonna go with that. And then you add to it, right, you add your own personality to it. So stick around, this is going to be a really fun one, I think get ready to give your LinkedIn strategy, a little bit of a futuristic twist. So hopefully, you’re ready for this. Because this is really a game changer. It’s a game changer. And a time saver. And those are two of my favorite things. Okay, because time is money. Time is money. And I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for ways to maximize the use of my time. You don’t I mean, to to batch things, and to be more organized with my time, you know, and the more I can do that without having to pay somebody to do things for me, the better. Obviously, I have people on my team, and I’m all for you doing the same thing. You’ve probably heard me say, let’s use LinkedIn to get the big fat, juicy contracts so that we can pay people to do all the things we don’t want to do. Right. That being said, there’s another bargain, right? And this is a bargain. So the first thing we’re gonna talk about here is connecting and researching. So let’s so remembering that this is not Google, okay, like if you put this in like a search engine, you’re gonna get a very different kinds of response. And if you put this into chat GPT Okay, so you might have heard me and I’ll find the episodes talking about the three different types of relationships. I want you to be building on LinkedIn, right? I want you to be building relationships with potential people that potentially could give you their credit card right want to sign a contract with work that you do potential partners, right? Who could be a JV partners who has an audience of people that you would like to be able to get in front of. And then who are the journalists that write about the kinds of things that that your their audience are your people, right. So these are the three different types of relationships, I want you to be building on LinkedIn. So you know, we can spend a lot of time searching and doing all these fun things. Or we can go into chat GPT. And say, like, in my case, I will, I will just use like most of the women, most of the people that I work with are women over 40. Right. So a prompt that I would use for this. And by the way, after next week’s episode, I’m going to give you a PDF with all of these prompts. So listen to make sure you queue up next week’s show, because I’m going to give you a PDF where you can download all these prompts. But a prompt for this might be recommend potential new contacts on LinkedIn, based on whatever your industry is, right? And interests, women over 40 Who are elevating their business in their brand. Okay, now, listen, you’re gonna get and I will tell you how many I want, right, I would say I want 20 lists 20, recommend 20 or 50, potential new contacts on LinkedIn, based on insert your industry or insert whatever you want to insert there and interests, women over 40, who are elevating their business in their brand. So you want to put that in whatever words are true for you, right? And then check GPT is going to pop you out a list of those 50 people or 20 people. Now you obviously this is first draft stuff you have to research. And honestly, in some cases, I don’t even know if these are real people. I’ll be honest, I don’t even know if these are real people sometimes. But it was really interesting because I did obviously I did this research before I did this show. And when I put that prompt in there, I remember those names. And I’m like, I don’t know what these names were all these people real. And here’s the deal, it kind of doesn’t matter if it’s real or not. Because every name that it gave me, like it didn’t give me their profiles or anything like that. So let’s say it gives you Mary Smith, right, like we could do with that. But when I went to LinkedIn, and I typed in Mary Smith, every single time there was a Mary Smith, that was a potential client for me, right? So listen, this is not my first choice of ways for you to grow your LinkedIn network is by just spamming people that want that could potentially be context for you. But the very least you can be connecting with them. And looking for something like I would be maybe using Sales Navigator to find out who’s active on LinkedIn. And then and these are all strategies we help you with in our shoes linked up program, and then reach out to some of them and just connect and say, Wow, it looks like you’re doing some really interesting work, I’d love to be connected to you period, the end. The goal here, in this case, specifically in this case, that when you’re connecting with people that are potential new clients, you want them to say tell me more before you start vomiting about all your products and services, or your webinar or all the things you want them to do. You want them to say tell me more. So just that initial connection requests expressing interest in them, right, but it doesn’t take long, you just said Chappie check up at least 50 of them for you. So again, this one you have to do a little bit of research on because again, I’m not even 100% sure that these are all real names, knowing full well that that’s the case when I do this. I know that might sound a little weird. But that’s the deal. The second prompt that I would do in this first category of strategy that we’re talking about, which is connecting and researching is I would maybe say list 20 Women who run a membership program focused on women entrepreneurs, because I want to be a partner with them and maybe be able to get in front of their members. Right? Like maybe they will do a LinkedIn training in front of their members. So whatever is true for you there, you would insert that right, like so thinking about what a perfect JV partner for you might look like? Lists 20, you know, whatever, who run a membership program focused on whatever. Now you can take membership program, and you can you can expand that out to other things because your goal is to find people whose audience you can get in front of right. You can do the same thing with conferences, list 50 conferences for women. Right? Like, again, you got to do research after you get this but it takes hours of Google research off of your table, right. And then the third category. And this is where it’s a lot easier for Chad GBT, and it’s a lot less research on your part is, you know, I have a pretty hefty commitment to guests on other people’s podcast because I think that it drives people to this podcast, and I’m recording this podcast, I want more people to listen to it right. So I might use chat GPT to create a list of 20 podcasts that have an audience of professional women over 40. Right now what I’m going to do is find those 20 podcasts, find their hosts and connect with them on LinkedIn. And now of course I have their podcast as the warm intro. I’m not just connecting with them. I’m going to listen to an episode at the very least I’m going to read the some of the show notes right so that I can have something to associate with them for but I just took Like, if you spend a half a day on this, it’s gonna give you six months worth of connections, like six months where their connections, right? Because and I don’t want you to connect with them all I want you to do this in a micro targeted way. If you guys that are in my program, we’re probably laughing right now, because I’m always pulling people back and going no, no, no, no, no. Like, they’re like, can I come up with a list because I want them to come up with a list of like, 50 people, and then they’re like, ready to email off 50 People, I’m like, no, no, a couple at a time, a couple at a time, because I want you to actually build relationships with these people. Okay, so, so this is gonna give you you spend a half a day doing this research based on chat GPT, and you’re gonna have an entire spreadsheet, have amazing leads to reach out to write and start to build relationships with

little PSA here, public service announcement, I know that you’re probably getting a ton of spam connections and messages on LinkedIn. And I recognize that and I want you to know, I do not want that for you. I don’t ever want anybody to to see me coming down the hallway and run in the opposite direction. I don’t want anybody to see you coming down the hallway and going in the opposite direction. Because every time you reach out, you’re pitching, I don’t want that. The strategies we teach in our shoes linked up program, make your strategy, it’s a magnetic strategy. Right? I said before, what we want people to say is Tell me more. And now you’ve got them right now you’ve got them. So if you want to learn more about what that strategy is, that’s what we teach in our 12, when she’s linked up accelerator program, it is so much fun, we have the most amazing people in this program. If you want to know what that looks like for you. Or if it’s even a fit for you, the best way to do that is to grab a spot on my calendar, go to Karen yankovich.com/call, get on the calendar, and we’ll chat and see if it’s a fit. If it’s a fit, we’ll tell you more about it. But this is life changing, it’s life changing. Because when you build these things, when you when you have a strategy to get some of these people we just talked about on the phone, it’s where the money is, it’s how you’re going to be get, you’re gonna be having 2030 $50,000 months, and I don’t say that lightly, we’re seeing that, in our program, Karen yankovich.com/call, for you to do is book a call to learn more about the program.

Alright, so the second strategy, and this is for those of you that are not in our program, so we’re in our program, you know, we’re personalizing it more than this, but you can use chat GPT to personalize some connection requests, right. So once you’ve done this research, if this is the next two strategies only work well if the person that you are interested in connecting with or building a relationship with has a great LinkedIn profile, okay, because what you’re going to do is you’re going to write a prompt, you’re going to take one of the people that you listed in item one, right from the list that you have above. And you’re going to go back to chat GPT, you’re gonna do a new chat, and you’re gonna say, Can you help me generate a personalized connection request for and you’re going to drop in, you’re going to copy and paste the whole LinkedIn profile and drop it in and see what it comes out with. Ask them to generate five personalized connection requests, right? Because what it’s going to do is it’s going to go through that person’s profile and help you see what they’re interested in. Right. So it’s a way to personalize that connection request. Now, I still want you to personalize it in a warm way. We’re both members of this chamber of commerce, we met at this conference, I listened to your podcast, right? But this is gonna again, like eliminates the blank page syndrome, right. So you’re not going to be stuck on I don’t know what to say, right? Use this use chat GPT to just jog your brain a little bit. Another prompt for this for like, using chat GPT to personalized connection requests might be craft a connection request message for and then drop their whole LinkedIn profile in that highlights our shared interests in and then put your common interests right. Now you’re not gonna get this is a little bit more difficult, like this is when Chad GPT sometimes come back and says, Karen, I don’t really know what you’re talking about here. I don’t really have that kind of information, right. But if they, but sometimes you get something good, right. So use the first one mess with the second one and see where it gets you. Remember, if you listen to next week’s show, I’m going to offer you a PDF where you get a list of all these prompts. You can print it out and keep it next to your desk. Okay, so the third strategy for using LinkedIn and AI together and this is a good one. And this is one that I learned from Samantha Riley. When I was on her podcast influenced by design. I’ll drop a link in the show notes to that show if you want to listen to it, but Samantha shared that with me, and I’m like, I am totally going to use that. And she gave me her blessing. So kudos, Samantha for sharing this to me because this is a good one. You can use chat GPT to write LinkedIn recommendations. So think about this, right? So let’s say you just had a you just were on a virtual Summit. And you heard a great speaker and you want to build a relationship with that speaker because remember, today’s show is all about how to use chat GPT and AI to build relationships, right? So you want to build a relationship with this person. So you go on over to chat GPT and you right you have to cop paste the whole profile again. And you say write a LinkedIn recommendation focusing on blank, which would be, you know, their their speaker skills for the following profile and then drop the profile in. Now again, the value of this is going to depend on how good the profile is of the person that you want to write the recommendation for, by the way, this speaks to you want to have a great LinkedIn profile, right? Because now, look at all these reasons, our personal profiles are more valuable for us, right. So you can do this. And I have to tell you, I mean, this is one place that I think I fall short I am well, I want to be somebody that writes more recommendations than I write. In fact, by the time you listen to this will be a couple of brand new recommendations on my that I’ve given because I really want to do more of this. But what happens is, I genuinely want to write recommendations for people, I love these people. And I look at their LinkedIn profile, and I get that blank page syndrome, I am not necessarily a writer, right, so. So this allows me to be able to get off my backside and get these recommendations written for people that I’ve been wanting to do for six months. Right. Now, even if they don’t have a great LinkedIn profile, and you do this at least it’s a start, at least it’s a start. And then you can go in and update it and fix it to what you want it to be. But I’m telling you where you want to be, the more generous and relationship focused you are in your LinkedIn strategy, the faster you’re going to get results. Okay, by far, by far, I don’t care how many cold messages your, you know, stupid bot can do in a day it is. And even if you get 100 people on your calendar, they’re going to be all the wrong people, you’re going to attract the exact right people, you’re going to have this magnetic strategy, if you are giving and relationship focused. And we can use chat GPT and AI and still have that goal of being personal. Right. So let me recap this a minute. The first one we can do is we can use you can use chat GPT to research people you want to connect with. And in the three categories, right? Who could be a potential client, who could be a potential JV partner and who could who’s the media who the media that talks about what you do, right, because you want to build relationships with them. So they interview there for you for their podcast, or quote you in their newspaper or magazine. Right. The second thing is, we can use chat GPT and AI to personalize connection requests. Right now, again, double check, make sure that what they’re saying is accurate. Think about this as first draft. But if you spend and by the way, if you have an adjuster of a virtual assistant, they can do a lot of this work for you. And they’ll just hand you that spreadsheet, right. So they can do this whole first section and this whole second section, right, personalize the connection requests. So so these are things that you don’t even have to be doing if you don’t want. And now you’ve got this really amazing robust spreadsheet of people to reach out to with personalized connection requests in a column ready for you to just drop in a couple of weeks, so that you’re starting to continually build relationships on LinkedIn. He tell how excited I get about this stuff. And then the third thing was write recommendations use use chat GPT and AI to write recommendations, drop the whole LinkedIn profile in asked and write a LinkedIn recommendation for that profile, focusing on whatever it is you want them to focus on, and be a giver on LinkedIn, and it’s gonna come back to you a million times over. So you know, I’m not a fan of inauthentic LinkedIn strategy. In fact, I did an entire podcast episode 218 on why I don’t love using AI. But you know what, as things develop, and I get to play with it, I’m working out my strategy, one that I’m comfortable with, and I’m completely confident supports my commitment to authenticity. And as I do that, I’m sharing it with you. So here we are. I am now having a lot of fun with AI with Chad GPT I am absolutely considered considering it first draft work. And I still am paying my writers on my team. I’m still writing things myself. This is not replacing anything right now. But it sure as heck is saving me a lot of time. So there you are. I hope this was helpful to you. Stay tuned because next week, we’re gonna have part two to this and know that end here in the good girls get rich audience and Adarsh in our shoes linked up family, we are creating wealthy women of influence. And we do this by helping you flip the funnel, focus on your highest ticket opportunities first, and then have a simple magnetic strategy to have those people saying to you tell me more. So if you want to learn more about this, or if you want to hang out with these incredible women that are doing this now, grab a spot on my calendar, go to Karen yankovich.com/call. And I’d love to see your name there. And of course, if you listen before or if you love what you hear today, I love to hear from you. So make sure that you’re following the show on Apple podcasts or wherever you are listening. I’d love it if you left a review that helps me understand more of what I should talk more about and let me know what you’re thinking of this right. I’d love for you to share this episode on social media. Take a quick screenshot, use the hashtag good girls get rich, and then I can share your post with my audience. And that’s how we all get more visibility. Right? I want to, if you’re sharing my content with your audience, I sure as heck want to make sure your name gets in front of my audience, right? This is how we lift each other up. In the shownotes, which are Karen yankovich.com/ 239, you’ll see a link for SpeakPipe where you can leave me an audio message, I love your audio messages, I respond to every single one of them personally. So just go to Karen yankovich.com/ 239. And leave me a voice message maybe of a guest you think I should interview or maybe there’s a topic you want me to talk about, right? I’d love to hear.
