There’s a song that that really I really resonate with. And I’ve been talking about a lot lately in my world that I wanted to share with you. And you know, when this episode is going live, it’s, you know, kind of late November 2021. I don’t know about you, but I’m doing some 2022 planning, right? What am I going to be doing? What am I not going to be doing? What do I really want to do? Who do I anyone who do I need to be in 2022 to be able to receive the successes in my business that I want to have as I do this 2022 planning? And of course a lot of that involves 2021 reflecting what’s working, what’s not working? What do you want to do more of what are you hoping you never have to do again? Right? Can you can you think about one of those things? I definitely can. And here’s here’s what I want to talk about today? What feels like work? What do you see on your calendar and you dread? And what do you see on your calendar and you get excited by right? What is it that you do that makes work your career, your job? Your business? What is it that you do that makes work feel like a vacation. And the song that is in my head that has been in my head for weeks now is the dirty head song gets called vacation, and I’m not going to sing it or play it because there’s you know, rules against those kinds of things when you when you broadcast a podcast, but I will definitely put a link to it in the show notes. You can listen to the song, and I suggest you like listen to it because it’ll be in your head for a while now. This is one of those earworm type songs. But basically the theory is, you know, the lyrics talk a little bit about you know, does your life feel like your vape does every single day, I’m on vacation every single day because I love my occupation, right? So every single day because I love my occupation, I feel like I’m on vacation, right? So. So that’s kind of what we’re going to be talking about here today, as you do your planning. Does what you’re planning feels like you’re planning it a year long vacation for 2020. Do. You know, I don’t know if I talked about on this podcast or not much yet. But I was in Scottsdale, Arizona a few weeks ago for the shoe podcast conference, which was awesome. And I also brought some of my shoes lined up students with us. It was our very first in person event for our she’s linked up family. And what we basically did was we built a mastermind around the she podcast conference, because a big part of the work that we do and she’s linked up is publicity. How do you start to show up as an influencer? How do you get interviews on TV, newspapers, magazines, podcasts, right? So we use the podcast conference as that leverage. So we had a bunch of our students there and our coaches there Carrie pet singer, who’s our mindset coach was there Jen Liddell, who’s our PR coach was there. Much of our students were there. We just had, you know, just so much amazingness there. Christine Powers was there who you heard from last week on the show if you missed episode 182 You need to go back and listen to that. But honestly, maybe it was especially after like a year and a half of not being in person with people. When I was in Scottsdale with My students that Listen, I love my program. I love the students in my program, and I am so grateful for them every single day. But when I was sitting in a room with them, I knew that I was in the exact place that I was meant to be. Right, I was in Scottsdale for 10 days, 10 days, we arrived before the conference. And then we stayed through the conference in an isolated few days after the conference. And of course, it was working, right, like once everybody left, like there’s an exhaustion around just having the on switch on all the time, right. And, of course, when you’re at a conference at a live event, you’re on switches, which is why it took a couple of days on the back end to be able to turn my switch off for a couple days. But it truly felt like I was on vacation, I truly felt like I was in the exact place that I was meant to be with just the most I mean, I’m just, you know, so grateful for the most amazing students, the most amazing team, it was bringing a literal tears to my eyes. Because there’s been many, many, many years that I was not feeling like this about the work that I was doing many, many, many years. Right? It actually is healing for me in a lot of ways. And you know, healing. You know, if I’m going to quote Susie mortos, healing stars feelings, that’s a card in her she’s in her fifth love card deck that you guys have heard me talk about, it literally was bringing tears to my eyes to just be in this place that I knew that I was meant to be with people that I knew I was meant to work with that are doing incredible, amazing things in the world. And I’m so honored to be in their presence, nevermind their mentor, right? So can you relate to that? Can you think about, you know, spending time in your business, even over 2021 or even before that, where you were just doing things that were definitely not bringing, if they were bringing tears to your eyes, it wasn’t tears of gratitude, right? You know, it feels amazing, it feels absolutely amazing to be in a place right now that I just know that I meant to be and everything is better, everything is better, my life is better, my family’s better, my business is better, my bank account is better, you know, my relationships are better. And you know, I we talk a lot in our choosing to program about gratitude and the importance of living a life from that space. And, you know, it’s a lot of strategy, but there’s a lot of right brained, you know, strategies involved in it as well. And I talked about doing gratitude. And I felt like I was in gratitude. And I you know, always been grateful for so many things in my life. I mean, I have four kids, couple grandkids, like, I have a lot to be grateful. I’m an amazing family, I have a lot to be grateful for. But sitting in Scottsdale with the women in my program and the women on my team took that gratitude to Technicolor. It was like kind of The Wizard of Oz, right? Like I was doing it, I’m doing it. I’m grateful. I know, I’m grateful. But sitting in that space of just amazingness that gratitude was an absolute Technicolor guy landed in us, right? So I want you to think about as you’re building your plan for 2022 What is it that you are going to build into your business that makes you feel like you’re on vacation that will make you have that Technicolor gratitude that is there for all of us. Right? So let’s dive into this a little bit because I am literally going to be taking the lyrics from this song and and talking about them on the show. So the song starts out by saying you know, there’s a lot of Ay ay ay ay ay ay. Right? A one vacation every single day because I love my occupation. I’m on vacation. If you don’t like your life, then you should go and change it. And then lots of every single days every every single days, right? And then everybody sour like a lemon tree. I’m just smiling down upon my enemies. Do this Shi T i love it on the daily. You say your hate your job, but you’ll never never leave. Okay? So think about that. Think about that, as you’re planning for 2022 Which one of those people do you want to be? Do you want to be like sour like a lemon tree saying you’re going to do something different saying you hate your job but not doing anything differently? You’ll never never leave? Right? Or do you want to want to be the one that’s smiling down? I don’t necessarily know that it’s all my enemies. But I have definitely smiling a lot now on just a lot of the things that are going on in my life. Because I don’t know. I don’t know I just I’ve cracked the code to what makes what lights me up and what makes me feel like I’m on vacation every single day. So the first thing I really want you to do is decide decide which side of this are you going to be on? Are you gonna be one of those people that says oh, I don’t love this. I don’t love that but it pays the bills. I don’t love doing this work or that work but I really want to do this stuff but you know what this pays the bills. You are never going to change it if you keep having that if you don’t put a light dry line in the sand and step over it. So that’s I’m done. I’m not complaining about my job anymore. Because every single thing I do I love, like every single thing. And if there’s things that you’re that have to get done in your business that you don’t love, then you can hire somebody to do that stuff. That’s how that works, right? So there’s lots of ways you can do and I know there’s a path from here to there. But taking those first, that first step on that path is making the decision that as you move into 2022, you are moving into a new paradigm. And a lot of that is about who you need to be to have that career to have that life. Right. So the second thing is I’m gonna just keep going down the lyrics of the song is, but that ain’t going to be me. That ain’t gonna be me, right? Because because you’re not going to be you made that you drew that line in the sand. My brother called me up and he saw me on the TV, he said, I said, it wasn’t easy, but right now I’m living breezy. built this engine from the ground up. Now my hands, they ain’t so greasy. Feel me, right. And then obviously, a lot of ah, and I’m on vacation, because I love my occupation, right. But think about that. I’m just gonna talk a little bit more about the lyrics. And then it talks about illuminate my future bright, so thankful for everything, rejuvenate my inner light. As I work hard for all i need open arms, embracing life, and all of what you gave me hard work, it pays off. I’m happy now it’s paying me. So once you make that decision, once you step over that line, and you just say I am not going back, right? Think about this. And I want to go back to the line where it says he saw me on TV, my brother called me up and he saw me on TV. I know this is a little crazy and all over the place. Right. But I know it sounds like fun. So I decided I wanted to just use the lyrics for this show today. So I talked to I said earlier that a big part of the work we do when she’s linked up is publicity. And our students are getting on TVs and newspapers, magazines, podcasts like crazy, right? That’s what we want them to do. And you know, I remember I was speaking at an event one time, and there was, uh, you know, I typically, especially if they’ve been small enough in this was maybe there was like 30 or 40 people at this event a few years ago, and there was a woman there that said she you know, I forget what she said she did. It was something like she was an office manager for some, I think it was like a, some kind of like a country contractor companies, I’m going to construct a company contractor company, and she’s like, that’s what I do, blah, blah, blah. But then then after that, and she says, and then her face lit up. And she said, and I also teach yoga at night. And I was like that, that’s what I want to hear. That’s what I want to hear. Right? Her face lit up. So I don’t remember this girl’s name, but let’s call her Sally, right? If Sally spends the rest of her life working at the office supply company, or the office would be the office manager of wherever it was, she was working. She’s gonna have a nice life, she’s gonna have a nice pension, maybe she’ll have a nice house, and she’ll live a nice life. And there is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with that. But if your face lights up, if there’s something else that you do, that your face lights up for, that is the place that can change your life. Right? So imagine Sally being interviewed, maybe Sally sitting next to Oprah. And Oprah is talking to her about her job as an office manager who’s listening to that, right, who is listening to that she has no enthusiasm, no excitement, no joy. But then Oprah says, Well, what else? And she says, Well, I teach yoga, and Oprah starts interviewing her about her joy for yoga, which interview Do you want to listen to? Which one do you think is going to most set her up as an influencer? Right? And it really has absolutely nothing to do with what pays it doesn’t have. Because sometimes yoga teachers are getting paid, you know, $5 a class, right? So it isn’t about the money. When you create a life and you build a life around what brings you joy around what makes you feel like you’re on vacation, everything changes because the the publicity is there for you. And what that does, it doesn’t necessarily pay your mortgage. But it gives you the credibility that allows you then to to bring out higher ticket packages and higher opportunities. Maybe the yoga teacher has always wanted to do a yoga retreat in Bali, right? It’s $10,000 a person. And she wants to do that. But she’s not doing it because she doesn’t know she can. I’m here to tell you you can, you can write. And then she’s getting interviewed on Oprah, right about her Bali retreat. And now let’s bring in more people to those Bali retreats, because now she’s got the credibility of being on Oprah. This is all there for you. This is all there for you. And, you know, obviously all of this for me all roads lead back to LinkedIn on this, if you’re building relationships on LinkedIn, from this place of confidence from this place of joy, from this place of absolutely loving your business, in your life in your career, and you’re building relationships with the journalists that write about those kinds of things. You are the person they’re going to want to talk to right? And you’re going to end you’re going to be able to create this level of influence that allows you to reach more people. And I gotta tell you something. I talk to a lot of women I talk to a lot of women. Every single week I talk to new people that are interested in coming into our program or just interested in learning a little bit more about what we do and you Yeah, money is helpful when our cup is overflowing. There’s more that we can do in the world. But very few of them are like, I want to do this because I want a new Gucci bag. And listen, there is nothing wrong with wanting to I was I was searching Birkin bags this morning, right? I was like, I’m just looking at them. I don’t think I’ll buy one today. But I’m just looking at them, right. So there is nothing wrong with that. But to me, what really lights me up. And what really lights up most of the women that I’ve talked to, is the influence that I have on the world is the influence that you can have on the world, if you get if you create that kind of influence, influential stature, that allows you to have that publicity and that PR, right, you can affect change, you can support more people in the world, whatever that is for you. Whatever lights you up happens from that place of joy. But it’s coming from the place where you’re leaning into the occupation that feels like a vacation because you’re most excited about that. Right? Not from what just pays the bills. Nothing wrong with just paying the bills, but you can start today to build on that. So hopefully that makes sense. All right, we’re gonna move on more lyrics, more lyrics. So close my eyes. Sometimes it feels as if I float away. I love the life I live in. I enjoy the ride along the way I make a living out a living. Yeah, that’s what I say. I’ve got one life to live, I wouldn’t live it no other way. And then lots of Amman vacations, Van Gogh in my ear lobe, I can’t hear I’m here though. I may be a weirdo. But this is my ear, yo, my life may be crazy. My lack of the lazy has let me do stuff that I love on the daily, get to do stuff that I love on the daily, everybody go and live your daydreams up every single day because I love my occupation. If you don’t like your life, then you should go and change it. So all right, you know where I’m going with this? Right? Like, you. You’ve got one life to live, right? Is this your year? Yo, right? And who cares? Like, let me just tell you something. The first time I did a podcast episode, a lot of the people in my life were like, What are you doing? Like, listen, my entrepreneur friends and my clients and that they all get it. But like a lot of people in my family, they’re like, what does she do? You know, like, what does she do? Like, they don’t really know there’s a couple friends of mine that every time I see them, they’re like, tell me again what you do. Right? So they think you’re so I don’t care if they think I’m a weirdo, right? Because this is my year ago. So I want this to be your year. But you have to make that choice. And like my lack of the lazy has let me do stuff that I love on the daily it doesn’t mean you’re not doing stuff, right? Having a life on vacation doesn’t mean that you’re not doing stuff. Listen, I’m nothing makes nothing likes me up on vacation, like like Gilligan’s Island s Beach, right? Like throw me on a beach, let me not see another person for however long that could go and I am as happy as I can be. And I don’t expect that to be the kind of vacation that my life is when I when I created my business that I’ve created. But when I look at my calendar, and I wake up and think oh my gosh, this is gonna be fun. Like, like, the day that I’m recording, this is a day that we have our q&a call for our she’s linked up programming. It’s my favorite hour of the week, because the the women in my program are brilliant. And I learned from them every single week, obviously, they’re there to learn from me. So hopefully they’re learning as well. They’re also learning from each other because it’s a lot of women supporting women, right. And that’s where life changes. And these are women that are really showing up and doing amazing, brilliant things in the world. And they’re creating influence, and their bank accounts are affected by it. So I love it. I absolutely love it. I look at my calendar on you know, today I’m like, oh, cool, I get to do this today. Right, my life is a vacation. So that is what I want for you. So let’s recap a little bit here. We talked a little bit about drawing the lines. And as you’re creating your 2022 plans, you know, create your 22 plans, deciding deciding that you’re going to spend a year on vacation, okay, make that decision. And then know that when you’ve made that decision, and you show up with this energy with this enthusiasm with this excitement, for your business, for your life, for your career, everything changes, right, everything changes and opportunities, like the TV shows, like the interviews that give you the credibility to land those big contracts, like Bali retreats, right? That happens when you have that influence from the publicity, okay? And then listen, you just got to do it, then you just got to make a decision and you got to go do it. There’s some work that has to happen. But work can be vacation, right? It’s not that you get you don’t get to be lazy, but you get to decide, and you get to move forward with it. So I hope you I hope that you enjoyed my crazy episode this week. But I you know, when I was listening to that song a couple months ago, actually, it’s been on my list to talk to you about for a while now. And as you’re doing your 2022 planning, I mean, listen to this episode again and really dive deep inside yourself. What do you really and truly want to be doing? How do you really and truly want to be known in this world? You can create Ain’t this you know, we’ve heard for years and years, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. So once you make this decision, you can come back to me, you can go back to LinkedIn, you can, you can build relationships with the people that can help you make this happen. And you can think big, I’m telling you the relationships that are there for you, or you’re gonna blow you away. They’re gonna blow you away, because they’re just people. They’re just people. I look at people now and think like, I’m going to, like, I see people sometimes like TV stars. And like, I just know, someday I’m going to be hanging out with them. Because I, I built my, I built my mindset to the point where I know that the opportunity to build a relationship with absolutely anybody on the planet exists for me, and you know, I’m choosy about who that is. I want the people that can continue to make my life feel like a vacation. Right? I’m choosy. But yeah. And it’s not that I don’t have to know what I’m doing. I do like it does, it is what you know, as well, right? But the who, you know, is so powerful. It’s so powerful. And it really impacts your ability to show up and be the person you want to be doing exactly what you need to be doing in 2022. So you know, I’m here to support you.
