If you’re still pricing based on hours… you’re likely undercharging.

Not because you’re not good enough—but because you’re using the wrong metric.

Why Charging for Time Doesn’t Work

Time doesn’t reflect:

  • Your expertise
  • Your experience
  • Your results

And most importantly—your transformation.

What You Should Be Charging For

Clients don’t want your time.

They want:

  • Faster results
  • Proven processes
  • Confidence and certainty

They are paying for the shortcut.

How to Fix Your Pricing

You don’t need to work more.

You need to:

  • Focus on outcomes
  • Remove task-based offers
  • Position your work as transformation

Why Authority Matters

Your pricing becomes easier when your authority is clear.

This includes:

  • LinkedIn presence
  • PR features
  • Testimonials

These build trust before you even speak.

The Real Shift

Stopping time-based pricing is not just strategy.

It’s identity.

[00:00] How and What You Charge Matters

Karen:
Hello, hello, and welcome to the Good Girls Get Rich Podcast. I’m your host, Karen Yankovich.

Today’s show is one of my favorite topics—and it’s really about how and what you charge, and how you price the products and services that you offer.

Because here’s the truth:

If you’re charging based on your time…
you’re probably undercharging.

[00:30] Stop Charging for Your Time

Karen:
If you asked me for one piece of advice, I’d say this:

Stop charging for your time.

And honestly?
Double your prices.

Not to overcharge—but to finally align with your value.

Because the women making the most money are not working the most hours.

They’ve made the decision that what they offer is not a transaction—it’s a transformation.

[02:30] Why Time-Based Pricing Keeps You Stuck

Karen:
We’ve been conditioned to believe pricing should be based on effort.

That’s the corporate mindset.

But your value is not measured in hours.

It’s measured in:

  • Results
  • Experience
  • Expertise
  • Transformation

“Somewhere along the way, fair became small.”

[05:20] What You Should Be Charging For Instead

Karen:
You’re not charging for:

  • A post
  • A call
  • A deliverable

You’re charging for:

  • Identity shifts
  • Results
  • Outcomes

Invisible → Known
Generalist → Category leader
Uncertain → Confident

You are selling transformation—not time.

[07:45] What Clients Are Actually Paying You For

Karen:
Clients are not paying you to do the work.

They’re paying you to:

  • Get there faster
  • Avoid mistakes
  • Skip the trial and error

They’re paying for the shortcut.

[10:15] Why Authority Supports Your Pricing

Karen:
If you want to stop charging for your time, you need authority.

That’s where LinkedIn and PR come in.

  • LinkedIn works for you 24/7
  • PR builds credibility instantly
  • Media creates borrowed trust

“I don’t want you to just be visible—I want you to be undeniable.”

[13:00] The Pricing Standard That Changes Everything

Karen:
Here’s how I price:

If I charge $1, I know it’s worth $10.

That belief allows you to confidently say your price—without hesitation.

[15:30] Why Undercharging Is the Real Problem

Karen:
When you undercharge, you create:

  • Burnout
  • Resentment
  • Lower-quality clients

And interestingly?

You often have more problems at low price points than high ones.

[17:15] How to Fix Your Pricing

Karen:
To fix your pricing, stop focusing on deliverables.

Start focusing on outcomes.

Instead of:
“I do LinkedIn strategy”

Say:
“I position you as the go-to expert in 90 days”

[19:00] Build Authority, Not More Work

Karen:
Your pricing is supported by your authority:

  • LinkedIn profile
  • PR features
  • Testimonials
  • Case studies

These do the heavy lifting—so you don’t have to work more.

[21:30] You’re Selling Confidence, Not Time

Karen:
Clients are not buying hours.

They’re buying:

  • Confidence
  • Certainty
  • Speed

That’s why someone can charge more for 1 hour than someone else charges for 25.

[23:00] The Identity Shift

Karen:
So the real question is:

Who do you need to become to charge what your work is actually worth?

Because this is not just strategy.

It’s identity.

[24:30] Your Next Step

Karen:
Take a look at your offers—and your LinkedIn profile.

Remove anything that screams “time-based.”

And ask yourself:

What would change if you truly believed your work was worth 10x more?

Because that’s how you stop undercharging.
