What if your visibility struggles aren’t about confidence… but safety?

In this powerful conversation, Karen Yankovich and transformational healer Dr. Tanya English explore why visibility can feel emotionally unsafe for women entrepreneurs — and how healing the nervous system changes the way we show up online, in business, and in life.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, burned out, emotionally exhausted, or resistant to putting yourself out there, this conversation explains why.

One of the most powerful moments in the conversation came when Tanya said:

“You can’t heal until you feel safe.”

That message completely reframed the way Karen and Tanya talked about visibility.

Because for many women entrepreneurs, visibility isn’t just about posting more content or showing up on video. It’s about what happens internally when you do put yourself out there.

That can look like:

  • overthinking every post
  • avoiding live video
  • procrastinating on content
  • feeling drained by social media
  • starting and stopping constantly

And often, women assume that means they’re inconsistent, unmotivated, or lacking confidence.

But Tanya explained that many of these reactions are connected to emotional conditioning and stress responses stored in the body over time.

When the nervous system doesn’t feel safe, visibility can feel emotionally heavy — even when you know it’s important for your business.

Karen shared how many women entrepreneurs are balancing businesses while also carrying emotional responsibilities at home, with family, relationships, caregiving, and everyday life. That constant pressure can leave women stuck in survival mode without even realizing it.

That’s why this conversation wasn’t really about marketing tactics. It was about creating internal safety first.

Tanya shared a simple but powerful exercise during the episode:

“I feel safe and it feels like…”

Karen answered with words like peace, joy, gratitude, comfort, and love.

It’s a reminder that safety is not just external. It’s something we can intentionally create within ourselves.

Another major takeaway from the conversation was the connection between healing and business growth.

As Tanya explained:

“When you’re focused, centered, and in your power, that shows up in your bank account.”

When women feel emotionally grounded, they communicate more clearly, show up more consistently, and stop building their businesses from burnout and exhaustion.

The conversation also reinforced something many women need to hear more often:

Self-care is not selfish.
It’s part of sustainable success.

If visibility has been feeling harder than it “should,” this episode offers a different perspective.

Maybe you don’t need more strategy.

Maybe you need more safety.

[00:00] Why These Live Conversations Matter

    Karen Yankovich:
Welcome to another episode of Good Girls Get Rich: The Conversations. I’m loving this new live format because it lets us actually have conversations in real time. If you’re here live, jump into the comments with your questions.

Today I’m joined by Dr. Tanya English — transformational speaker, chiropractor, energy healer, and founder of Healing With the Blues. Tanya helps women move from grief to grace by releasing emotional patterns stored in the body and nervous system.

She blends anatomy, physiology, and quantum energy healing to support deep healing, trauma release, and spiritual alignment. Tanya, thank you for being here.

    Dr. Tanya English:
Thanks, Karen. I’m excited to be here.

[02:30] From Theater to Healing Work

    Karen:
What didn’t I tell people about you?

    Tanya:
I actually started in theater. I went to Boston University School of Theater Arts and worked in production and acting. Then I found massage therapy almost by accident.

I took anatomy and physiology classes and absolutely loved them. That led me to the Swedish Institute in Manhattan, and I’ve been doing healing work since 1986.

    Karen:
That’s amazing because anatomy and physiology terrified most people in college.

    Tanya:
I loved it. I realized I was fascinated by how the body works.

    [04:15] Eastern vs. Western Healing

    Karen:
What I love about your work is that you blend Western medical knowledge with Eastern healing modalities.

    Tanya:
Western medicine often waits until something breaks. Eastern medicine focuses on keeping you balanced so you don’t crash in the first place.

Western thinking tends to isolate symptoms. Eastern thinking looks at the whole system — mind, body, spirit, environment.

“How do you know that’s as good as you can feel?”

That’s the question I ask people when they say they already feel fine.

    [07:20] Entrepreneurs Can’t Afford Burnout

    Karen:
Entrepreneurs don’t really get sick days. If we stop working, income stops too.

    Tanya:
Exactly. That’s why I have a team supporting my health — massage therapists, chiropractors, healers, community support.

    Women especially need support systems.

“Your first job is to take care of you.”

If we suppress emotions instead of processing them, they eventually show up somewhere else in the body.

[11:40] How Emotions Get Stored in the Body

    Tanya:
Your muscles are under subconscious control. Your emotions create physiological responses.

Every emotion has a physiology attached to it.

When emotions stay trapped in the subconscious for decades, the body carries that burden.

“Something that happened when you were three may still be running when you’re fifty-three.”

    [14:00] Health, Aging & Self-Care

    Karen:
Every year it takes a little more intentionality to feel good physically and mentally.

I want to choose when I work and when I play — and that means creating an environment where my body and brain can support me.

    Tanya:
That’s exactly it. Your first responsibility is caring for yourself.

    [15:10] Suppressed Emotions & Illness

    Tanya:
When we suppress emotions, they come out another way.

I worked with a client dealing with cancer who spent her whole life taking care of everyone else.

Sometimes illness reflects years of emotional burden and self-abandonment.

“When you make a vow like ‘I’ll never forgive myself,’ your body carries that punishment.”

[17:50] The Emotional Load of Entrepreneurship

    Karen:
So many women are carrying businesses, aging parents, children, relationships — everything at once.

There’s so much invisible emotional labor happening behind entrepreneurship.

    Tanya:
We’re constantly balancing life logistics and emotional responsibilities.

That’s why healing has to become easier and more sustainable.

    [21:00] Healing Through Ease

    Karen:
One of my favorite words is “ease.” I intentionally try to build ease into my business and life.

    Tanya:
Any healing modality I use has to feel easy for both the client and me.

I’m currently using a technique called MAP that helps disconnect emotional charge from traumatic memories.

“It doesn’t erase the memory. It removes the emotional attachment to it.”

[24:20] Visibility & Feeling Safe to Be Seen

    Karen:
A lot of women want more visibility, but they don’t feel safe being fully seen.

Why do you think that is?

    Tanya:
Because of generations of conditioning. But healing begins with safety.

You can’t heal until you feel safe.

[25:20] The “I Feel Safe” Exercise

    Tanya:
    Let’s do a quick exercise.

    Complete this sentence:

“I feel safe and it feels like…”

    Karen:
    Peace.
    Joy.
    Love.
    Gratitude.
    Comfort.

    Tanya:
Keep going until your nervous system starts to soften.

“Your healing comes from your feelings and emotions. You cannot separate them.”

[28:50] Energy Shows Up Before You Do

    Karen:
People can feel your energy before they hear your words.

That matters in visibility — on podcasts, video, speaking, content creation, all of it.

    Tanya:
Before this conversation, I intentionally grounded myself in excitement and gratitude.

That’s “pre-paving” the energy of what you want to experience.

[31:30] If Your Body Could Talk About Your Business…

    Karen:
If your body could talk about your business right now, what would it say?

    Tanya:
    It would say:

“You’re doing so much right. Why are you focusing on what you’re not doing?”

    [33:00] Finding Meaning in Pain

    Tanya:
After the stillbirth of my child, I asked myself:

“Do you really believe everything happens for the highest good?”

    That question changed everything.

I decided to keep looking for meaning, healing, and growth instead of staying trapped in darkness.

    [35:20] Grief Is Not Punishment

    Karen:
When I was overwhelmed caring for everyone else in my life, Tanya helped me remember I had to care for myself too.

    Tanya:
“Grief is not punishment. Wisdom comes from a heart that’s been broken open.”

Sometimes we need someone outside ourselves to help guide us back.

[36:40] How Tanya Works With Clients

    Tanya:
I begin with an intuitive energy scan, looking at chakra patterns and energetic imbalances.

    Then we use techniques like:

    • MAP
    • BEST (Bioenergetic Synchronization Technique)
    • Theta Healing
    • Chakra balancing
    • Breathwork
    • Magnetization exercises

I ask the body what it needs instead of assuming I know.

    [39:00] Healing & Financial Success

    Tanya:
    Your healing impacts your income.

“When you’re focused, centered, and in your power, that shows up in your bank account.”

Self-compassion overflows naturally into every part of life and business.

    [41:00] Investing in Yourself

    Karen:
We spend money on marketing, training, and business growth.

But investing in yourself is one of the most powerful business decisions you can make.

[43:20] Be the Queen of Your Life

    Tanya:
If you’re not the queen in your own life, somebody else is.

“You can’t pay someone else to make you healthy. You have to participate in your own healing.”
