So you know one of the questions that I get asked a lot is do I need LinkedIn premium? And you know, listen, the answer is no, you don’t need anything, right? You don’t need anything. But you might want it, you might want it. And I talked a little bit about LinkedIn Sales Navigator, a couple of maybe gosh, probably like a year ago now. And we’ll link to those episodes in the show notes here. But I wanted to just kind of talk a little bit about what LinkedIn premium services and you know, give you a sense of what you’re basing decisions on. Right? If you think you if you think you need it or not, I can tell you that LinkedIn Sales Navigator is probably one of the best investments I make in my business every month. And I’ll talk a little bit about why in a few minutes. So really, what we’re going to be talking about is what is LinkedIn premium service? And what can it do for you? Right, so the reality is, you know, LinkedIn is very much on top of you being the only one logging into your LinkedIn profile. They know if someone else logs into your profile, they know if you’re logged in, in New Jersey, and your VA is logged in and logged in in California, they know it, they’re checking IP addresses, they can see that stuff and they are shutting people down for that kind of thing. So you know, in my world, nobody logged into my LinkedIn profile, but me, because it’s too important to me to risk that, right. So because of that, I have to make sure that I’m leveraging my time as best I can. Right like, sure you can use some posting tools, right, you can use some tools like you know, tools that you can schedule posts and things like that. And that’s all legitimate within LinkedIn. But a lot of it is a lot of the rest of the stuff like how do you do searches? How do you find the right people? That is not you need to do that yourself. So what LinkedIn Sales Navigator does is it gives me a way to do that, where it happens faster. I am I am targeting better, and I’m saving myself a lot of time. And because time is of a premium to me, right? I am not looking to spend 20 hours a day working, I want to save myself time wherever I can. So LinkedIn Sales Navigator saves me time. And time is money in my business. And you know, really, you should really look at it that way. Right? Even though it’s 8090 $100 a month, whatever it might cost, you want to look at it from the perspective of if it saves me two hours a month, that’s huge. It’s probably gonna save you 10 hours a month, though, right? So that’s really what you want to think about when you’re looking at LinkedIn premium services. And some of this has just changed recently. So I’m just going to kind of go through it. And I’ll talk to you a little bit then about each level and then some of the offerings that it gives you and what I think about those things. So first of all, there’s the here’s the different levels, there’s career and obviously that’s for job seekers, I have to tell you, I think job seekers can still use Sales Navigator core, which is for salespeople because at the end of the day, we’re looking to meet people right when you’re looking for a job. So I think either career Sales Navigator could work for a job seeker but career is an option. business. You know, I have to tell you I think business is not the is the one I probably don’t think is necessary for anyone. I think if you’re going to use premium go right to Sales Navigator, but they but LinkedIn promotes it as good for entrepreneurs looking for you to grow and nurture your network. Again, Sales Navigator is what I would use for that and then recruiter, right that’s obviously if you’re an HR professional, you’re looking to find and recruit talent you’re going to want recruiter and every level off different options and different kinds of functionality within LinkedIn. Right, so So let’s talk a little bit about InMail. First of all, I can’t talk about premium without talking about email. But I also think in mail is not, I hardly ever use in mail I almost never use in mail. So I don’t think that that the ability to use email should influence your decision. Because I’m never looking to send out a bunch of mail to people I don’t know ever, like, I want you to be doing targeted outreach to people that are in your warm network. And if you can, if you need to build a warm network, we talk about how you do that, right. So in you know, why not connect with somebody, if you really want to talk to them, why not connect with them, and then send them a message even in that connection request, right, I’m not really looking for you to just spam and mail a ton of people. But in mail is the ability to mail people that you’re not connected to. So with the career level, you get five free emails each month, with the business level, you get 15 Free emails each month Sales Navigator you get 55 Zero free email messages each month, and with recruiter, you get 30 Free emails per month. Again, I don’t really think that in males is a is a reason for you to pay for sale for a premium version of LinkedIn. Because I don’t think emails really that necessary. But if you find it is for you, then that’s what your options are. And again, I go straight to Sales Navigator almost an all time gives you 50 Free emails, all of these levels allow you to see who’s viewed your profile, you get to see job insights, right how you can compare with others that are applying for similar positions, you get salary insights, you get LinkedIn learning, right, which is awesome. Lots of great courses, their premium business also includes Business Insights, so Krump company growth rates, hiring trends, things like that. So I’m going to talk a little bit about recruiter Lytx. And then I’m going to jump into Sales Navigator cuz that’s my favorite. So recruiter gives you all the features of career and business plus advanced search features saved notes on profiles. guided search helps you find that top talent right in less time, search suggestions, how do you find hidden talents, maybe they have some dynamic search suggestions for you. They’re saved search alerts where you can save searches. And when a new candidate matches your search criteria will notify you and projects ability to manage your pipeline and your talents by saving searches to actual project. So if recruiting is something you’re doing, that’s it’s, it’s a sweet, it’s a sweet package, and you definitely want to look at that. But let’s talk about LinkedIn Sales Navigator. LinkedIn Sales Navigator core, which is the new version of Sales Navigator gives you all the features of career and business plus, like, recruiter, you get advanced search features. And these advanced search features are awesome. For example, in Advanced Search and Sales Navigator, you can you can narrow it down by number of employees how long the company’s been in business, you know, the, instead of like geographic areas like New York City area, which gives you like way out on Long Island to way down to the Jersey Shore, you’d be able to narrow down by zip code, right like 20 miles of a zip code. So you’re getting a much more targeted geographic search, if that’s what you’re looking for. It gives you all kinds of like more ways to find people within a company titles and how long they’ve been there, things like that. But but the most cool thing I think about the advanced search features are the spotlights, right sales spotlights, and it allows you to segment searches, by things like have been mentioned in the news in the past couple of weeks, I think are has things in common with you. But my favorite feature in the spotlight section of the search is has been active on LinkedIn in the last 30 days. What that does is let’s say you do a search and you find this great search, and you save the search, okay, and saving a search is really valuable, because you can continue to come back to it. We’re going to talk a little bit more about that in a second. But if you save that search, and let’s say there’s 1000 People in the search, I only want you reaching out to a few a week, that’s going to take you forever, right. But of those 1000. If you now narrow that down with the spotlight search option of active on LinkedIn in the last 30 days, what it does is it drops that from 1000 to probably four or 500. And now you’ve got four or 500 people that you know are active on LinkedIn. Those other five 600 People may not even be alive nevermind active on LinkedIn. Right? And you’re wasting time. Remember when I went back to it saves me time, every time I messaged somebody that’s not active on LinkedIn, I’m wasting my time. Right. So instead of sending out five messages a week, and three of those two or three of those people might not even ever look at LinkedIn. I’m not sending out five messages a week to people that I know are active on LinkedIn, and they’re most likely going to see my message hugely, hugely valuable. You can save notes on profiles. You can save leads and accounts in searches you can like, create like, you can create lists, right? You can create a list of maybe people that you met at a conference, right? You can even create lists of people that I want to do outreach to in the next couple of weeks, and then take them off that list and put them on a list that says people that I’ve already done outreach to write lists to help you kind of manage your contacts. But let’s talk a little bit about saving searches. So let’s say you have a search. And you’re really looking for people that are in people that are in the buying capacity, right? In companies that are in the retail industry that are over a certain number of millions of dollars a year in revenue, in some geographic area, right. And let’s say that search drives, it comes down to 1000. People, you narrow it down by people active on LinkedIn, and now it’s down to 400 people. So now you’ve got 400 People that are second degree connections, because this in this case, we’re looking to build our network, you can search within your first degree network to, but in this case, we’re looking for second degree people in our second degree network. And there’s, let’s say, 400 of them. So you reach out to five of them. And of those five people, three of them accept your connection request, well, that search does not drop down to 397, which you would think maybe it would, because you just they’re no longer second degree now networks right now, they’re first degree networks. But what happens is those three people, their networks become eligible for that search, because now their networks are part of your second degree network. So that search continually regenerates itself. So when you spend time really diving into a great search, and save it, that search continually regenerates itself. And you can work that search for so long, right? And it’s so valuable, it’s so valuable. And these are all things you can only do with the Sales Navigator version. Now, there are workarounds, of course, there are workarounds, you can grab URLs and things like that, you know, in the free version. But honestly, you’re a real business owner, if you can’t spring for 100 bucks a month or less, for a tool that’s going to save you that kind of time and let you have this kind of insight. And this kind of access to the kinds of people that can change your business, your life and your bank account, then you kind of rethink a little bit about what your business what you’re budgeting for in your business, what’s more important than the client getting stuff, right, what’s more important than the people in your business, the people that can change everything. So I’m a huge fan of LinkedIn Sales Navigator for that feature as well. It does integrate with your inbox, you can view LinkedIn profile data for your contacts directly in your inbox, which is kind of cool. i There are other features as well. And you know, but those are the ones that I think are the most valuable. So if you’ve been on the fence about Sales Navigator, you definitely want to take a look at that, you know, saving leads, for example, also gives you like a separate little wall. If you’re familiar with Twitter, it’s almost like a Twitter list of LinkedIn contacts. So instead of going to your main wall, where you might have 500 or 5000 people and you got all kinds of crazy stuff happening on that wall, you can go right to your Sales Navigator wall and only see the the what was posted by people that are most important to you. Because you’ve created that list. You’ve curated that. Right? So, so cool. So is it worth it? Honestly, it really depends on your purpose for using LinkedIn. If you are using LinkedIn, well listen, if you’re listening to this podcast, that I’m guessing you know the value of LinkedIn. And if you know the value of LinkedIn, and using Sales Navigator can help you just get to the heart of the people you need to get to more quickly. Why wouldn’t you do it? Why wouldn’t you do it right, you can get a 30 day free trial, you absolutely should do that military veterans and military spouses might qualify to get premium services for free, students might be able to get this for free if you have a lot of tech for your career center. Because a lot of colleges have partnerships with LinkedIn that allow you to get it for free. Right your point, you might have to have an email address and.edu. But so what as long as you can still link other email addresses to it as well. So you know, check to see if you’ve got the ability to get it for free. If not get the 30 day free trial, get the 33 day free trial, when you know you have time to be a part two to actually jump in and mess with it. Because so many people and I can probably have done this myself, you’d want to sign up for something, I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna try it and then the 30 day trial is up and you never even looked at it right? Like, can you relate to that I’ve done that a few times. So get the 30 day free trial and then maybe even put it on your calendar a couple times a week to spend some time messing around in LinkedIn Sales, navigator saving searches, seeing the kind of things you can do there. So just to kind of recap here a little bit, there are a bunch of different levels to use on LinkedIn. premium services can be beneficial depending on the reasons you’re using it. Right. And I think that in all cases, if you are looking to have some serious profit in your business, then you need to think bigger. And you need to think about the tools that are going to help you meet the people that can change your business, your life and your bank account. Right? I mean, everybody that I work with in our shielding program, we want everybody there to be have to have a target of a quarter million dollars a year top line revenue. So if you’re looking to have that kind of impact on the world, but with that kind of a minimum income level, then why wouldn’t you want to make your life easier? You know, we’ve heard our whole life is not what you know, it’s who you know, I think it’s what you know, I think you need to know what you’re doing but but we can create the who you know, here on LinkedIn. And if you can get rid of all the trash and just go to the Part of the people that can change that. So powerful so so so worth the money, and I gotta tell you, I don’t make a dime on this, like none of the links in this episode are affiliate links like this is just I find could make if I could make affiliate money on LinkedIn Sales Navigator, I don’t know I might be, I might be going out and buying a new boat. So um, but I don’t. So until then, it’s just me telling you how much passion I have around this tool that saves me so much time in my business every single week. So if you’re serious about building your network on LinkedIn, whether you’re a job seeker, or business owner, or salesperson, or recruiting a premium membership can really help you grow your business, grow your career Grow, grow the relationship marketing that you’re on LinkedIn to do, take advantage of that free trial, right to see if it’s for you. Join me in our free Facebook group, you can check that out at LinkedIn for women community.com. If you have any questions at all about how to use Sales Navigator, once you’ve signed up just coming to that Facebook group, I’m happy to answer your questions there. Okay. But you know, take advantage of the free trial, but dedicate yourself to utilizing it for that 30 day period. So you don’t waste your free trial. You know, as I mentioned earlier, in this episode, it she’s linked up, we really focus on supporting women with LinkedIn strategy. And we really want to teach women how to fill their cup up so that it’s overflowing many of the women in fact, not many of them, every single woman in our program is not just looking to grow their bank account, but they’re really growing, they’re really, they’re really committed to making an impact in the world. And I want you to be able to make that impact and make that and create that influence from the overflow. I want your cup to be filled first. Okay. And then with that overflow, there’s so much we can do in the world. There’s so much we can do when women have larger and larger incomes. And that’s my goal. That’s my goal is to have more wealthy women. So if you think that you want to hear more about that, of course, just check there’s links on the show in the show notes here.
