About the Episode:

You know here at Uplevel Media, we strive to provide a system to help you find true, authentic connections through relationship based marketing. The center of that always is in LinkedIn, however you can’t implement a relationship based marketing system, if you’re spamming your LinkedIn network!

Are you spamming your LinkedIn network?

There are two types of support out there when it comes to LinkedIn marketing. For example, there are…

  1. True LinkedIn Experts
    1. These are your people like me who teach, true authentic relationship building in which you build real connections one at a time. These lead to actually converting your network into clients.
  2. Spinners
    1. Those who come into the market, provide 3rdparty tools and have your connections automated. This leads to growing your network at such a rapid pace to the point where you never know who these people are and if they’re even going to buy from your business.

So chances are, if you’re not getting real LinkedIn support or if you don’t know who have your connections are… you’re spamming your LinkedIn network.

So how can you fix it?

Focus on the connection piece

Like I mention in episode 80 of my Good Girls Get Rich podcast, start connecting with people on a microlevel. This means coming up with targeted searches for those you really want to connect and have a relationship with.

This way, once you connect, you already have a conversation starter for them and can personalize your outreach based on what you know about them.

Keep the conversation going

The best way to leverage your LinkedIn network is to keep the conversation going. You never want to disappear for days at a time because that will make them think you’re not serious, or they’ll lose interest in you.

Make your conversations personal. Chances are you’ll have something in common to talk about, you’ll want to keep connecting with them daily, and you’ll be that much quicker to getting them on the phone.

About the Episode:

If there’s one thing you should know about me is that I’ve always been an entrepreneur. I was born an entrepreneur! And the one thing that’s been consistent in any business I’ve been involved in is that getting on the phone consistently is the most important thing for building my business.

In this podcast I wanted to share with you my simple and easy way to get on the phone consistently with clients, rake in the money and that all stems from doing what I call the “brushing your teeth” work. It’s the stuff you have to do everyday to keep your business healthy and growing and that starts with your daily LinkedIn routine for generating revenue.

Step 1: Identify Who Your Perfect People Are and Your Ideal Client Avatar on LinkedIn

When it comes to connecting on LinkedIn, there’s absolutely no better way to start than finding your perfect people and your ideal client. I mean… how can you start reaching out if you don’t know who you’re looking for?

If you’re having trouble identifying your perfect people for your network, I’d reference my Episode 78 on attracting your tribe. Need to know how to find your ideal client? Lucky you, I have an episode for that to! Just click here.

This builds the foundation for your targeted outreach of people. Keep in mind, targeted is the key word here.

Step 2: Connecting Consistently in Your Daily LinkedIn Routine

Consistency is key when it comes to building your daily LinkedIn routine for generating revenue. You don’t need to connect with hundreds of people a day because you know why… you can’t keep up with that!

Whether it’s 10, 20 or 50 people a week, your connections should be people you genuinely want to get on the phone with.

Pro tip: NEVER send a blanket message to your potential connections. They can tell it’s inauthentic and will ignore you and you’re just wasting time that way. Send something unique to them and they’ll want to connect right back!

Step 3: Stay On Top of Your LinkedIn Inbox

You’re doing all the work to reach out right? So why not make it a part of your daily LinkedIn routine for generating revenue to stay in your inbox!

Keep your LinkedIn window open on your browser during the day incase someone does connect with you. Sending them a swift response show’s you’re interested, and it’s just that much quicker to get them on the phone and turning them into a client.

076 – What’s the Point of LinkedIn?

What’s the point of LinkedIn? I’m in a ton of business related Facebook groups that have threads constantly on this topic. But instead of joining in on those conversations, I’m answering that question… right here!

This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media and CEO and founder, Karen Yankovich discusses her expert opinion on the true point of LinkedIn. Many times, people are asking whether or not they should start using LinkedIn for their business, is it worth the time, what’s the point? So this week, Karen decides to answer the question from her own expert opinion on what is the true point of LinkedIn

About the Episode:

Ok time to answer the question… what’s the point real of LinkedIn here?

Like I mentioned above, I am in a ton of Facebook groups that have discussions on ways to use various things like social media and PR to build your business. Recently, I’ve been seeing a surge on so many people discussing the topic of “what is the point of LinkedIn?” or “what is LinkedIn used for?”

We all know Facebook groups can get pretty heated and instead of monopolizing the conversation over there, I want to answer that right here.

Disclaimer: this is purely my opinion. Feel free to disagree, but as someone who uses LinkedIn to grow their business everyday, I think I have a pretty solid opinion!

Before discussing the point of LinkedIn… I first wanted to share some things I’ve seen floating around Facebook…

Good things to have that are not actually the main point of LinkedIn:

Visibility

I hear about many people getting thousands and millions of views on LinkedIn and honestly… I love hearing that! I love hearing about how people are finally seeing how visibility on LinkedIn is actually possible! However, I wouldn’t focus your efforts on only targeting visibility as your main goal

Growing a large network

The one thing I can tell you right now is that I love love love my network on LinkedIn! I enjoy interacting with people, potential new clients, people I meet at events I attend and speak at, etc. While it is a “networking” platform, I do hear people saying things like…

  • Connect with 100 people a day
  • Grow your network beyond reach
  • Networking on LinkedIn is the one key goal to LinkedIn

These also aren’t the point of LinkedIn.

Engagement

Currently… LinkedIn engagement is going through the roof lately! As one of the biggest aggregators of professional content on the web, it’s so important to get more eyes on your content and increase your engagement to generate business.

It’s great to share and interact with content, however… all 3 of these myths are missing the point on what the actual point of LinkedIn is…

So what is it? What’s the actual point of LinkedIn?

Clients and Customers

That is the actual point of LinkedIn. For 3 reasons:

  • LinkedIn is where the money is and where the high paying customers are
  • LinkedIn is also where relationships happen
  • LinkedIn leads to phone calls with people, which leads to sales

About 90% of sales I make on any given month are from people I talk to through LinkedIn. Think about the last 5 sales you made… have you made them without talking to people?

If you have, great for you! However if you haven’t… this is where you should start! Instead of connecting with a thousand people a day, I attempt to connect with a select few and have actual real and authentic conversations with those people. Building those relationships leads to phone calls, which leads to building business relationships and generating sales.

I have a very simple success path to allow you to grow your business and relationships through LinkedIn and I would love for you to hear more about it!

About the Episode:

Let’s face it… our lives get busy and our businesses go through many ebbs and flows, mine included! However, when it comes to my business, LinkedIn is the one thing I can attribute my consistent stream of sales to.

A few weeks ago I did a podcast with Rebecca Vertucci on how to leverage your LinkedIn company page, however this week I wanted to focus on what you should post on your personal LinkedIn page for those who might need more help. Let’s dive in!

The Content Strategy and Breakdown

Everyone’s heard of the 80-20 rule where 80% of your content should be about your personal intrestes and 20% can be promotion of your business. I agree in some cases, however for business owners I want to break down this rule a bit further:

10% Promotional Content

This can be content promoting your business and services directly to let followers know about your company and what you offer.

20% Business Related Content

This bucket includes anything related to that business, whether it be behding the scenes, favorite business tools, events, what you’re working on etc. this content is important because it brings your audience into your business and can help you build that know, like and trust factor to help turn your audience into potential customers.

30% Promotion to Your Free Content

If you don’t have any free content to offer, I suggest making some! For me, it can be this podcast. These are things you can offer your audience at no cost to get them acquainted with your business and leave them wanting more.

40% Industry Related Content

The last piece of this puzzle leaves industry related topics. This can include things like trending topics, great books you’re reading, an amazing podcast you’re listening to (like this one!) and maybe even expanding on inspiration and quotes you found helpful to you.

Things To Include in Everything You Post On LinkedIn

Hashtags

Linkedin is becoming increasingly more hashtag centric. People can follow hashtags now and using in your posts will keep you top of mind. Not only that, people who might not be a part of your network can find you through these hashtags they follow as well. Great for growth!

Tagging People in Your Posts

Obviously if you are talking about someone in your post, you want to tag them! However, start conversations with people! If something you’re posting reminds you of someone else, tag them to start a conversation! Don’t tag people who aren’t relevant though because that can be annoying!

Share, Like and Comment

This is extremely important to include in what to post on LinkedIn! Even though LinkedIn is a business network, it’s still a social network! Sharing, liking and commented on other people’s posts only helps to expand your network and build those stronger relationships with other business owners and potential clients.

The most important part of your LinkedIn content strategy: Consistency

I cannot stress this one enough! In the podcast I compare this part of your business to brushing your teeth. No matter how busy your day might get, no matter how chaotic your life may be, you still have to brush your teeth!

If I slack off on my daily LinkedIn work, I can see an immediate impact in my business. I’m not growing at the rate that I want and I’m not top of mind for people in my network anymore! No matter what your content strategy, posting on LinkedIn consistently is something that you need to keep up on.

I can’t stress enough how using LinkedIn has impacted my business and I sure what you to get the same results out of it as I have. It’s not a ton of work, but it should 100% be a part of you business strategy to entertain maximum growth in your business.

072 – Imposter Syndrome on LinkedIn

Imposter syndrome is something that can effect the best of us, including myself! Check out this week’s episode on dealing with imposter syndrome on LinkedIn and how to overcome it.

This week’s episode of Good Girls Get Rich is brought to you by Uplevel Media and in it, Karen talks all about imposter syndrome and she shares tips on how to overcome it. According to Psychology Today, imposter syndrome is a psychological term referring to a pattern of behavior where people doubt their accomplishments and have a persistent, often internalized fear of being exposed as a fraud. Listen and learn to start recognizing that imposter syndrome happens to all of us, including Maya Angelou.

About the Episode:

Imposter syndrome on LinkedIn has been shown to be the most prevalent among those who are high achievers. It seems like the more people accomplish, the harder it becomes to own it! I talk a ton in one of my previous podcasts with Janet Zaretsky about being more confident online. In addition, I wanted to dive deeper into this issue as many people, men and women alike struggle with imposter syndrome, especially on LinkedIn!

TIPS FOR AVOIDING IMPOSTER SYNDROME ON LINKEDIN:

1. RECOGNIZE AND OWN YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS

First, to define imposter syndrome, obviously the entire concept surrounds having issues around doubting your accomplishments. However, the first step to getting over it is to recognize what you’re good at and what you achieved in the first place!

To get started with the podcast, I give a few of my own tips on the first steps to getting over imposter syndrome and they are

  • Writing down everything you’ve accomplished, personally and professionally
  • Giving up being perfect to get things done
  • Create a physical positivity box full of accomplishments and positive sayings about yourself

Like I’ve explained in a few other podcasts, doing these few simple things will help boost your confidence daily. As well as helping you build confidence, these will also allow yourself to gradually move past the fear that comes from imposter syndrome.

2. HIRE SOMEONE TO WRITE YOUR LINKEDIN PROFILE

Still think your struggling with imposter syndrome when it comes to marketing yourself on LinkedIn? The best way to avoid this is to simply, hire someone to write your profile for you!

Moving on through the podcast, I list a few of the questions us at Uplevel Media ask you guys when helping assist in writing your LinkedIn profile. As we go through the discovery phase, this is where we take all your accomplishments and highlight them in the best way possible!

3. POSITION YOURSELF IN THE WAY YOU WANT THE WORLD TO SEE YOU

Let’s think for a minute: why is someone coming to your LinkedIn profile or company page in the first place? It’s because they want to know more about you to see if they want to work with you!

While developing your LinkedIn profile or company page, it’s crucial that you are positioning yourself in the best light possible. Nobody wants to work with someone who is just “ok”! You know you are awesome, you know you’ve accomplished a ton in your career, so state it loud and proud on your profile so others know it as well!
